Examining the Use of Urban Growth Boundary for Future Urban Expansion of Chattogram, Bangladesh

With the rapid and unregulated nature of urban expansion occurring in Chattogram, Bangladesh, adoption growth restriction mechanisms such as boundary (UGB) can provide a robust framework necessary to direct development built-up areas way that curtails environmentally sensitive city. Using support vector machine (SVM)-based simulation model, this paper examines future contiguous city aid delineation UGB. Utilizing landcover, topographic, population density data from variety sources for past twenty years, SVM method with radial basis function (RBF) kernel is used develop model based on fourteen predictor variables. A grid-search tune hyperparameters determine best performance combination RBF SVM.
